It is not terribly surprising that research has affirmed a link between order and positive behavior in children. Simple routines such as consistent meal and bed times can offer profound benefits. However, many of the families I work with find it nearly impossible to maintain consistent schedules or a sense of order and calm in their households. Why?

Parents are often overwhelmed by mixed messages about what is important for their children and families. So, they try to do it all. Schedules become packed. Parent-child relationships become strained as parents oscillate between seeing themselves as overly lenient and then overly harsh. They feel exhausted, ill equipped, guilty, and powerless.

My heart goes out to families caught in this dynamic. In the world we live in, it is easy to understand why many families find themselves in this situation. If you are looking to create more order in your home through organization, or consistent routines, check out these resources to get started, and if you need a hand, reach out to take advantage of my Household Organizing service!
